This week’s readings are all from Mark chapters 8-9. Each day’s segments of the readings will be posted on this site during the week.

Today's Reading:

Then Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” The disciples were astonished at these words. But again Jesus said to them, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” They were even more astonished and said to one another, “Then who can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and replied, “This is impossible for mere humans, but not for God; all things are possible for God.”

Peter began to speak to him, “Look, we have left everything to follow you!” Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, there is no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive in this age a hundred times as much—homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, fields, all with persecutions —and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” (Mark 10.23–31 NET)

@siteadmin Thank you fellas, for the podcasts!  Anytime new perspectives or enlightenment in God’s word are presented, it results with being closer to knowing our King!  (Maybe, next Christmas, y’all could play “the three wise men”.)

“Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!” “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.””

The NIV teaching Bible commentary says this about receiving “100 times as much in this present age”

”Jesus assured the disciples that anyone who gives up something valuable for His sake will be repaid 100 times over its life, although not necessarily in the same form. For example, someone might be rejected by his family for accepting Christ, but he or she while gain a larger family…a family of believers. Along with these rewards, however, we experience persecution because the world hates God. Jesus emphasized persecution to make sure that people do not selfishly follow Him only for the rewards”

Am I the rich young ruler or am I a disciple? Am I willing to be last or do I strive to still be first?

Jesus looked at them and said, “with man it is impossible, but not with God. For ALL things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27.

I am still a work in progress.
